Transportation, parking & security

There are three primary ways for your daughter to arrive to school: personal car (self, family member or friend), bus (either yellow bus or TARTA), or carpooling (Taxis have been used on rare occasion).

Personal car

Seniors and Juniors are permitted to drive to school. If you will be driving to school, you will need to purchase a parking permit ($120.00) and must purchase a permit each year. Forms are sent home during the summer and will be available throughout next school year in the main office. If students car pool, they need to purchase only one hanger. They must register all students in the car pool including license plates, make, model and color of all cars they will be driving. Only one car from those in the car pool may be in the lot. If there are three students in a car pool, all possible cars from all students must be registered under one hanger. If one of the other drivers has an activity after school and needs to drive also, she should sign in at the main office. For security purposes, all students who use a personal vehicle to drive to school and want to park on the NDA campus must complete, and have on file, a Vehicle Registration Form. Click on the following link for a NDA Parking Vehicle Registration.

Sophomores may be permitted to drive beginning second semester, depending on parking availability and must contact the Dean of Students for permission. If your daughter will be driving to school, she will need to purchase a NDA Parking Vehicle Registration.  Forms will be sent home during the summer and will be available throughout next school year in the main office. If another person drops off your daughter, please make sure they are mindful of adhering to the drop off procedures discussed at the May parent meeting.

Bus

To arrange for students to ride a bus, parents must request transportation directly to the public school district for your residence.  School districts must receive requests directly from parents to in order to place a student on a bus route and will only transport students within their school district. Each school district is responsible for planning their district’s bus route and providing the specific routes to people living in that area.  If you have a bus route question or need to know your daughter’s specific bus schedule, please contact your public school district directly.  Notre Dame Academy does not arrange any bussing for students.

UPDATE FROM SYLVANIA SCHOOLS:

Sylvania Schools is updating to an online system for managing transportation requests for students attending nonpublic schools for the 2018/2019 school year. It is pertinent that we have up-to-date emergency contact information for each student. This system will provide our transportation department a more accurate count of how many students will be transported in the upcoming school year. For these reasons, Sylvania Schools is now requiring transportation requests directly through the Sylvania Schools website (www.SylvaniaSchools.org). Once on the website, please go to Departments > Transportation and then selects “Nonpublic Transportation” from the menu on the right. This process only takes a few minutes. All requests need to be submitted through the online form by June 15, 2018.
