Patricia Beazley IB Visual Arts Scholarship
Sponsored by the NDA Arts Parent Club, the Patricia Beazley IB Visual Arts Scholarship will be presented each year to at least one rising senior at Notre Dame Academy who is involved in IB Visual Arts. The scholarship is named in memory of Patricia Beazley, an award-winning artist known for her skill in portraiture and in depicting family scenes and children. The scholarship is intended to be applied toward the tuition of an NDA IB Visual Arts rising senior. The value of the scholarship is $500. Mrs. Beazley, besides being a talented artist, wonderful mother, and compassionate friend, was an unceasing volunteer. Her support and dedication to the underserved and marginalized of Toledo was very well known. Pat was active at Gesu Church and volunteered for the League of Women’s Voters. She produced a public television program featuring debates among local candidates.
On February 10, 2014 Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur addressed the Ohio House of Representatives stating “ I rise to pay tribute to the life of a great American, Patricia McNamara Beazley, a magnificent woman and citizen…Pat Beazley was an extraordinary human being. The minute you met her you felt like a member of her family. She was an artist of family, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and an artist in her own right. Her paintings abound not just in her home, but throughout our country and, certainly, in her home community…”. In addition to being an IB Visual Arts student, the ideal applicant should be on track or ahead on volunteer service hours since service was a significant part of Mrs. Beazley’s life. Further, the winning recipient shall, have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. Financial need may also be considered. Becca Brookover Arts Grant
Sponsored by the NDA Arts Parent Club , this grant is named in memory of Becca Brookover, whose spirit and dedication to her art was an inspiration to all who knew her. The grant is intended to allow an NDA junior to enrich and further her arts education during the summer by providing up to $500 for the student to have the opportunity to attend a summer program such as a camp, workshop, conference or private classes that will benefit her work in the arts at NDA her senior year.
The ideal applicant will be involved in at least two arts disciplines at NDA, or heavily involved in one arts discipline.
