How to apply for financial aid

If you have tuition questions, please contact Karen Miller at 419.725.1271 or kmiller@nda.org. An NDA education is an investment in your daughter’s future. 92% of NDA alumnae feel the cost of their NDA education was worth it. If your daughter is academically qualified, we will work with your family to help you invest in her education at NDA. In 2016-2017, over 75% of NDA families received some type of scholarship, discount or financial aid grant, totaling approximately $1.8 million.

To make it easy for you, we do not make you apply for dozens of different scholarships. Instead, you apply once using NDA’s Financial Aid Application so we can customize tuition to your family’s individual situation. Completion of the 2017-2018 Freshman Scholarship Application is also required to be eligible for certain scholarships.

We partner with FACTS Management Co. (FMC) to assess financial need. FMC is an independent, national family assessment firm used by most northwest Ohio private schools to assist in determining financial need along with other services such as managing tuition payments. Complete the application online at FACTS Management Co. Based on the FMC assessment, the NDA Tuition Assistance Committee determines the award.

Click on the FACTS (FMC) image to complete the financial aid application online.

The FMC application only takes about 20 minutes to complete, and requires a copy of the most recent tax returns and W-2 Wage and Tax Statements for both spouses. In the case of divorced families NDA needs information from both financially responsible parents, so both families must complete the FMC assessment. For households with alternative wage information – i.e., Social Security Income, Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, Workers’ Compensation, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families  – copies of substantiating documents are required to be submitted to FMC.

ALL TUITION ASSISTANCE INFORMATION IS STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL. The documents can be submitted via electronic upload, fax, or by mail. Complete the application and submission of tax documents by January 6, 2018 to receive award notification in mid-February. After mid-February, processing time is three to four weeks once all material is in. The $30 FMC processing fee is paid online. Your application will not be processed until this has been paid.

Once a family has been approved for a loan, YTS will notify Notre Dame and Notre Dame will confirm the loan amount. The loan amount may not include registration fee and my not exceed the tuition balance. Once Notre Dame confirms the loan amount to YTS, YTS will mail the loan documents to the family for signature. The family will return the signed paperwork to YTS; 48 hours after receiving the signed loan documents, YTS will disburse the loan. The first loan payment will be due 60 days after disbursement of the loan. If the paperwork is not received by YTS and the loan is not executed within 60 days of the date of application, the loan application will expire.

WTPSPA (Formally SCRIP)

NDA is now a part of the West Toledo Parochial School Parents Association

West Toledo Parochial School Parents Association

Toledo, Ohio 43606

Please read the following letter from WTPSPA:

Dear Scrip Buying Tuition Earning Parent,

I am Andrew Ranazzi and with Diane Fockler, my partner, we have run, since 1998, the WTPSPA, a non-parish/school affiliated scrip program.  We invite you to start earning for your child’s education using a scrip program, like the one you are used to, that doesn’t close its doors (even for a week) and provides you with unprecedented tuition earning opportunities.

The WTPSPA is a thousand parent organization that makes nearly $140,000 for its member parents. The success of the WTPSPA, without benefit of a school or parish infrastructure from where to collect orders or payments, can be attributed to several simple philosophies.

They are, in reverse order of importance:

WE GET YOUR FAMILIES WHAT THEY PAID FOR RIGHT AWAY!

WTPSPA families order Wednesday by 9 a.m., they get their scrip ALL the time by Thursday morning.  This means most of the time they get their scrip before their account gets hit by the ACH.  The WTPSPA also cuts checks to its families on the last order day of the fiscal year…that SAME DAY!  So if you want the best selection of local (Marcos, Loma Lindas, Magic Wok) and national (McDonald’s & Target) vendors as well as EVERY GROCERY STORE (including the only place you can buy KROGERS) FAST…we are your only place to scrip shop.

OPEN EVERY WEEK!

WTPSPA hasn’t EVER taken two weeks off in a given year and has a string of nearly 470 consecutive weeks since it’s last week off in April of 2007.  The WTPSPA is the Cal Ripken of scrip programs.  Consistency is the theme here.  Our families can count on us every week.  Your financial obligations don’t take weeks off, have snow days or school holidays and neither should your program.  This is where our online ordering application “iScrip” is an invaluable asset because Monday/Tuesday snow days or school holidays don’t matter as everyone is ordering and paying online.  With no weeks off our parents get a routine down and will chew an arm off before they make a sizeable purchase without scrip.

DON’T TAKE ANY OF YOUR FAMILIES’ EARNINGS!

THE WTPSPA takes the first $40 of a family’s earnings.  After that you keep every dollar.  The WTPSPA also has several incentives where you can get that $40 back and more making it easy for you to keep every dollar.  The WPSPA has a set amount so that parents are encouraged to use the program in as much volume as possible knowing they keep every dollar after number 40.  A parish who takes a “mandatory” percentage of 25-50% is not inducing you to buy in volume.  Further, you can earn a lot more and then make a gift to church or school that you can then tax deduct it because it is voluntary.

HOW THE WTPSPA WORKS!

We will make arrangements for you to get your pickup box key after you have placed your first order. If we can assign you a pickup box with a family you know we will do that, if not, you’ll get a box that will still allow for great convenience when picking up your order.

Arrangements have been made with Notre Dame Academy to have your order dropped off at the school for your pick up convenience if that is what you prefer!

The order deadline is 11:45 am Wednesday. Just place your order online.

ALSO…welcome to iScrip…to get registered for iScrip do the following:
Go to http://wtpspa.nosa.us then type in “new” under user
id and “102” under password and you will be prompted to sign up as a new family.  You won’t be able to login until you reply and tell me you did this.  After that reply I’ll approve your iScrip application immediately so you can begin ordering.

WE NEED YOUR ACH PAPERWORK (Available at http://wtpspa.nosa.us/files/user/wtpspa_ach.pdf) SO YOUR PAYMENT CAN BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT WEDNESDAYS AT 11:45 A.M.

Also, please feel free to refer any other families to our program. We are growing and welcome any families that want to ease the financial burden of parochial school’s tuition.  Your referrals get you bonuses that can be used to offset the $40 fee and used to pay your child’s fees and tuition.

We use e-mail, exclusively, to contact WTPSPA members, so check it regularly.
You can learn more here http://wtpspa.nosa.us/content/page/shared/faq,  http://wtpspa.nosa.us/content/page/shared/rules, or http://wtpspa.nosa.us/

Any questions after that just ask!  Email us at wtpspa@gmail.com and you will get an immediate reply.

  • Tuition: educational costs
  • Composite fee: AV materials, class and lab fees, some textbooks and workbooks, assemblies & speakers, fitness center use, free admission to home athletic events (with school id), guidance materials/programs/testing, parents’ club membership, on-line grade access program, pastoral services, retreats, school newspaper, school yearbook, student/parent directory, student planner, technology – student account, extracurricular activities and programs, student council activities and assemblies.

  • Not covered by standard tuition and fees charged to all students: Advanced placement exam fee, International Baccalaureate exam fee, parking fee, booster club membership, athletics and club fees.

Withdrawals:

Registration fees and composite fees are non-refundable. Tuition is based on the total base tuition divided by the four quarters of the school year. If a student completes six weeks of a quarter, no refund will be given for that quarter. Transcripts will not be released until the balance due after withdrawal adjustments and any other financial obligations are paid in full.

Delinquent Accounts:

If at any time a family is experiencing financial difficulty they should contact the Tuition Coordinator in the Business Office to discuss their FACTS payment plan, or contact YTS to discuss their education loan, as applicable. If a family is not able to make a FACTS payment by the due date they should contact the Tuition Coordinator at least three business days prior to the scheduled payment to prevent returned payment fees. Fees will be charged by FACTS Management Co. and by Your Tuition Solution for late payments. If tuition and fees are not paid in full at the beginning of the year, or a loan agreement in place with Your Tuition Solution, parents must make monthly payments through FACTS Management Co. All payments must be made timely and kept current for students to continue at NDA. Parents may be contacted and informed that the student must leave the school for nonpayment. All payments must be completed for students to take final exams. All payments must be completed for seniors to graduate. Transcripts will not be released for any student with a balance due. Students cannot return to school if they have a balance due from the prior year; they will be withdrawn.

Payment Policies:

All balances not paid by July 12 must be set up in a monthly payment plan through the FACTS Tuition Management Company or financed through Your Tuition Solution. Late fees will apply to payments made after this date. If payment in full – for all tuition and fees – is not made by July 12 the family must either: 1) have an active account with FACTS Tuition Management Company and keep payments on this account up-to-date, or 2) have an education loan through Your Tuition Solution and keep payments up-to-date. These accounts and payments must be up-to-date throughout the student’s enrollment at NDA in order for the student to continue attending. If at any time a family is not able to make a payment by the due date on a FACTS payment plan they should contact the Tuition Coordinator immediately to discuss their situation and reschedule the payment. This must be done at least three business days prior to the scheduled payment to prevent returned payment fees. If at any time a family is not able to make a payment by the due date on an YTS education loan they should contact YTS immediately to discuss their situation. The balance due is the amount payable by the financially responsible parent after the registration fee is paid, financial aid from NDA has been applied, and credit balances from the prior year have been applied. Monthly payments on a FACTS payment plan must be spread evenly through the year – at least half during first semester and the balance during second semester. Payments must be current in order for students to continue at NDA. Payments must be current for first semester – half the balance due paid – in order for students to take first semester exams. The first monthly payment with FACTS must be set up for July or August. Three payment date choices are available: the 5th, 12th, or 20th of each month. The deadline for set-up with FACTS is June 15. The final payment to FACTS must be made by April 20 for seniors and by May 20 for all others. Payments must be completed in order for students to take final exams and for transcripts to be released. Application to Your Tuition Solution for an education loan must be made no later than June 1, and the loan agreement must be finalized by July 12. Payments will be made directly to YTS under the terms specified by the loan agreement. A one-time 3% financing charge will be added to all balances not paid by July 12 (except where a loan agreement is in place with YTS). For example, if your balance is $5,000 the financing charge is $150. FACTS will charge a $41 fee for ACH plans that must be paid when billed to activate your account. They will also assess fees for returned or late payments. YTS does not charge an application fee or prepayment fee. They will assess a $5 per month fee for late payments.
