Notre Dame Academy is proud to announce that senior Isabella Yazji, was named a National Merit Commended Student in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students place among the top 50,000 scorers and only approximately 34,000 students, from the 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, received this honor.
Miss Yazji, who has attended NDA since the 7th grade, said, “When I heard I received the National Merit Commended Scholar award, I was very surprised! I was not expecting the announcement and was so happy to receive the recognition. I am so thankful for the opportunities my Notre Dame Academy education has given me!” She takes IB biology and IB Spanish and numerous AP classes, like calculus, government, history, and English. Miss Yazi has also taken honors classes, in most subjects, all four years of high school.
She is interested in The University of Michigan, The Ohio State University, and Case Western Reserve University. Her plan is to pursue medicine to become a physician. Her favorite classes at Notre Dame have been anatomy and physiology because of her strong interest in that field of study. Miss Yazji has been a player for the varsity tennis team for four years and a two-year captain. She has been a student ambassador, involved in ski club, is a peer tutor for math and Spanish, and is a member of Thy Loyal Daughters Service Club.
