Local Fire Chief Will Tell “HisStory” of the Attacks on 9/11 and the Aftermath

Deputy Fire Chief Tom Eisel (retired) told his story of the attacks on 9/11 and the aftermath to students, faculty and staff today, as we all remembered and prayed for all of those affected by the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Chief Eisel accounted for his trip to Ground Zero in New York City and his attendance at the funerals of his fallen FDNY brothers and sisters.  “HisStory” was that the day began as a beautiful morning, completing routine daily tasks at the fire station where here was Chief.

Chief Eisel, along with the students, was very moved as he described the day, and showcased his 9/11 artifacts and various medals he brought to show the students.

“This series will allow students to ask questions directly of an eyewitness to history, help to break down cultural, generational, and societal barriers and through storytelling help the students connect to past historical events,” said series organizer and Social Studies Teacher Natalie Morgan. The Social Studies Department at NDA will present this series of speakers throughout the school year to help students create meaningful connection with historical content.
