Memories & Milestones

Randy and Carla (Hottinger) Kaiser ’02 celebrated their first wedding anniversary on Oct 4th, 2009.

Kaya Smith ’07 and Adelle Abourage ’07 are two of seven University of Toledo students selected to study Biology and Chemistry at the University of Salford, Greater Manchester, England for the 2009-2010 academic year.

John and Margaret (Chavalia) Michalak ’57 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 17th, 2009

Kathleen (Amidon) Miller ’60 returned from a Mediterranean Cruise. She visited Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence, Rome, Capri, Pompeii, Mykonos, Istanbul, Ephesus, Athens and Venice. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Michelle Lynn Piel ’06 is a senior in the professional pharm D. program at the University of Toledo. She will get a bachelors in pharmaceutical sciences in the spring of 2010 and will then have two more years of school to become a pharmacist and receive a pharm D degree.

D. Jeanne (McNerney) Chengges ’39 attended the NDA fall musical “Annie” and thought it was spectacular. It was as good as any Broadway show she has seen. She sends her congratulations to everyone who was a part in making it.

Monica Guisfredi ’08 is a chemical engineering major at the University of Dayton and was hired to be a research assistant for a senior scientist (metallurgy and materials science) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She'll be working 10 hours a week during the school year and full time in the summer. Her education at NDA has prepared her well!

Mary Follas ’65 celebrated the birth of her first grandchild. Oliver Edward Marcotte was born 4/9/09 to Mary’s daughter, Sarah W. Marcotte, and her husband, Brett Marcotte, of Seekonk, MA.

Jamie (Comiskey) Scuka ’98 has been married for two years to her husband, James. James and Jamie own their own business outside Atlanta and have a two-year old son, Parker.

Jennifer Benedict ’91 was named one of Nightingale’s Healthcare News’ Outstanding Young Healthcare Lawyers for 2009.

Danielle Bishop ’07 is reading English and Spanish subjects at Oxford University, UK for the three terms of the 2009-10 academic year. She tried out for and was invited to row with both the Oxford University Boat Club women’s lightweights, and the St. Catherine College at Oxford women’s heavies. She has elected to row with the St Catherine club and has been sitting seven in the Women’s First Boat. St Catherine Women's First Boat is defending champions of the Torpids for two years running.

Sister Mary Jo Toll ‘62 will be participated in The Forum of Catholic Inspired Non-Governmental Organizations, "New Challenges in a Globalizing World," on February 12-14, 2010 in Rome, Italy.  Sister currently serves as a NGO representative to the United Nations on behalf of the Sisters of Notre Dame.

Sister Kathleen Marie Knueven ’65 will receive the Principal's Light of Learning Award on February 4, 2010, from the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese for her service as Prinicipal of St. Jude's School, Ft. Wayne, IN.

Jasmine Blanton ’09 is a forward guard for Owens Community College and was named the NJCAA Div. II national player of the week on Jan. 6. According to the National Junior College Athletic Association website, “Blanton's drive and determination are what sets her apart from most athletes according to head coach Michael Llanas.  He admires her poise to compete for a league title and run at a regional title.” Jasmine is the 24th leading scorer in the country at 17.267 points per game. She also averages 4.933 rebounds, 4.133 assists, and 2.067 steals per game.
