Resource Center vs. Library
What‘s the difference?
A Resource Center:
- Provides a variety of media for student research, including Internet, periodicals, ebooks and access to online databases such as InfOhio and Toledo-Lucas County Public Library
- Integrates technology into the environment, such as wireless laptops, desktop computers, SMART™Boards, television and other tools for learning
- Configures the space to allow for group study and interaction between students
- Encourages conversations and discussion in spaces designed for group study
- Provides a quiet space for students to study or read
- Functions as a fully-equipped classroom as well as a library when needed
- Employs a full-time Media Specialist, who is skilled in a variety of hardware and software, and available to assist students with multi-dimensional projects
- Is considered the “hub” of the school and is used by teachers and students to display and disseminate information to the student body
